Exciting times! My painting, Old 22, was voted Improptu winner in last month's Stan Proko's #prokochallenge (It won in the Best Building category). With so many amazing entries, I'm sure judging wasn't easy. It was a real treat to have James Gurney acting as reactor-in-chief, and reacting to my painting! You can watch his feedback and insights in the video above around the 10:20 min mark where he talks about mood & lighting. But don't start / stop there – check it out to see everyone's great submissions.

James Gurney is a world class painter / illustrator, with so many great tutorials and valuable info on all things art related on his blog, Gurney journey. In addition, his art books have been NY Times best sellers and his book, Color and Light was Amazon’s #1 bestselling book on painting for over a year and is considered an essential for any artist looking to hone their craft. Legend also has it that Gurney worked in the art department painting backgrounds on the Frazetta / Bakshi animated collaboration, Fire and Ice, (1976). That's cinema history, folks!

Anyways, special thanks to Stan Prokopenko for putting on the contest and gifting me with the anatomy course prize.
