Artist Statement
I am building worlds that straddle the uneasy chasm between the analog and digital realms. Like an explorer, I traverse the territory between familiarity and strangeness, spontaneity and abstraction. I meld traditional textural and painterly elements to explore the uncanny links between our human bodies and their technological extensions.
My work investigates the phantasmagorical, intuitive, or irrational realms of our collective existence, including our imagined nostalgia for a “hell” or “paradise” lost. I’m deeply drawn to the messy clash between the natural and industrial worlds, the alien beauty that arises with the unusual color palettes and dramatic juxtapositions. I’m moved to capture the long, slow burn of time immemorial, its undeniable power, and the profound toll it takes on our bodies and structures.
Each art work is a gateway to another realm in which much remains hidden. What I’ve chosen to omit is as important as what I reveal. The goal is to catalyze the viewer’s imagination to enter a liminal space and to co-create the invisible realms beyond the picture plane. My creativity is restless, and I am constantly experimenting with a range of tools and techniques to spark this dance with the viewer.
